An Artist’s Mission

I am an artist living in Palm Springs, CA. Like many Americans I am disheartened and upset with the political news I hear every day. I had been feeling really helpless. At the same time, I have been trying to become more active politically with this upcoming election. I just can’t sit silent on my sofa anymore.

I have always stayed away from titles. I will always vote for the political candidate who I feel is the best person for the job. In these political times, I am looking for a political candidate that I feel would represent the entire United States not just one color, one economical level or interest group. That person I have found in Pete Buttigieg.

 Let me state I am not supporting Pete because he happens to be gay or that by coincidence I happen to be also. I truly believe in my heart that he is the right person to get this country back on the right track.

In the same breath, I could not be more impressed of this man. The fact that he is gay and by default represents a part of who I am makes me proud. Which brings me to this print and back to my sofa. I had the opportunity twice to go to a fund raiser to meet and hear Pete talk about his vision. Both times I had to turn down. I do not have a ton of disposable income to show my support and I know cash is king when it comes to competing in a presidential election. This increased my level of frustration; listening to the news and feeling like I can’t help.

Then I thought, what CAN I do. Of course, everyone needs to VOTE. But I feel so much is at stake with this election and our country.

So, combining my artistic ability combined with my overwhelming sense of pride, I’ve painted a small personal reminder to show my support. I chose the pride flag because I could not be prouder that Pete is representing the LGBT community to the world.

100% of the proceeds will go to the Pete Buttigieg campaign. It’s my way of trying to help and support someone who is making a lasting impact on the world. Each print is signed and dated and includes a note on the back thanking you for your support of Pete. At the same time, in a small way it is a way of celebrating community or someone in our community that you care about.

I have this print hanging in my house as a reminder of who I am. To me it symbolizes community and a reminder to be proud of all that I have done and all that I can achieve.
